Beijing, April 14, 2011 – The Rick Hansen Institute (RHI), a world-renowned spinal cord injury (SCI) research institute signed agreements today with the China Rehabilitation Research Center (CRRC) and the Peking University Third Hospital (PUTH) to strengthen cooperative SCI research and rehabilitation initiatives in China.

Physical Activity Guidelines for Adults with Spinal Cord Injury

March 17, 2011 - Physical activity plays a critical role in overall health. The loss of fitness and independence associated with physical inactivity greatly impacts quality-of-life and community participation for people with spinal cord injury (SCI). In fact, the leading causes of death among people with SCI are chronic diseases, such as heart disease or type 2 diabetes, which are often caused by physical inactivity.

Rick Hansen Institute and Accreditation Canada to develop first ever standards for spinal cord injury care and services in Canada

OTTAWA (January 12, 2011) – The Rick Hansen Institute (RHI) and Accreditation Canada announced today that they will develop the first ever comprehensive, evidence-based standards for spinal cord injury (SCI) services delivered in Canada. Funded by RHI with the support of Health Canada and additional government partners, the standards will allow clinicians to use best practices across the continuum of care for people with SCI.
