 At the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) 2013 meeting, a workshop was held to share lessons learned from leading international multicentre trials and collaborations as well as to discuss the benefits and barriers to international collaborations.

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), recently assembled external working groups of nearly 50 international experts to develop a set of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Common Data Elements (CDEs) for use in clinical research.  

April 16, 2014 (Beijing) – The Rick Hansen Institute (RHI), Peking University Third Hospital (PUTH) and Accreditation Canada International (ACI) announced today that they will be working together to develop and implement best practice standards for acute and rehabilitative care for spinal cord injuries (SCI) in China. A unique opportunity to learn and combine best practices developed in China and Canada, implementation of these standards will ultimately ensure that the approximately 60,000 individuals who sustain a spinal cord injury China each year receive the best possible care and health outcomes.

April 1, 2014 - Ontario is providing continued support for people living with spinal cord and brain injuries by investing $15 million in the Rick Hansen Foundation (RHF) and the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation (ONF).
